Drawing from concepts tried out in other disciplines, the author suggests those weaknesses imply that Spain’s “civil self”, as the bearer of the institutional make up of an order of freedom, needs reinforcing, by means of a number of civil repairs and cultural mechanisms -- the efficacy of which depends on the character of a historical scenario which has taken a turn to the worse.
